It was first celebrated in 1992 by World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and is now observed in over 120 countries by UNICEF, WHO and many other organizations. It commemorates the Innocenti Declaration made by WHO and UNICEF policy-makers in August 1990 to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. Its goal is to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies worldwide.   Local breastfeeding advocacy groups are sponsoring a special event to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2011. On Saturday, August 6th, LatchOnPalooza Gainesville will take place at Westside Recreation Center, 1001 NW 34th St, beginning at 10:00 AM. The event will include informational tables, and an attempt to break the allegra odt tablet record for the most women allegra d and pregnancy breastfeeding simultaneously.   Did you know that breastfeeding: Reduces risk of infections, allergies, and certain diseases? Reduces risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)? Leads to improved brain and nervous system development, and higher IQs? Sliding…carving…boardwalking…this group can do it all! A UF organization with over 100 members, Gator Longboarding organizes skate sessions, talks about skating and networks with other skaters. They’ll be here at the library to answer questions and demonstrate longboarding tricks and tips. Isn’t the library for quiet study, reading, or checking out some movies for the weekend? You have to follow the directions on the screen or in the instruction book to learn how to play. You have to interpret the meaning and learn to respond to the visual images, visual literacy.
