Abovitz, now in New York, is the editor and founder of Tom Tom Magazine: the only magazine about female drummers. Abovitz will be talking about how Tom Tom started, where it has been and where it is going. She will also bring up and discuss the broader topic of women in music in the media and social networking amongst women musicians and consumers of music. COINTELPRO describes a conspiracy among government agencies—local, state, and federal—to destroy movements for self-determination and liberation for Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous struggles by infiltrating and subverting their efforts.

The program mounted an institutionalized attack against allies of these movements and other progressive organizations. January, 2011 -A +A Alachua County Library District will be participating in “Snapshot:  A Day in the Life of Florida Libraries” on January 25, 2011.   This state-wide project will illustrate the importance of libraries for Florida’s citizens through collection of statistics, stories and photographs. Alachua County Library District will join libraries across Florida in conducting special events, taking pictures, and collecting statistics and customer comments showing allegra edina mn how Floridians are utilizing their libraries that day.   The Florida Library Association, in partnership with the State Library and Archives of Florida, will be posting the results on a Web site, where everyone can see these powerful stories.
