  The City of Gainesville is now promoting it's first annual Visit Gainesville Photo contest, with the theme of "Where Nature and Culture Meet. The deadline for submissions for the photography contest is August 31, 2011. Your library has a varied collection of books, e-books and DVDs on the topic of digital photography to assist you for the contest. For inspiration visit the Harn Museum of Art and check out the current exhibit: The Mind's Eye: 50 years of Photography by Jerry Uelsmann. You can also enter you photos in the Teen Art Show. Seniors -A +A Services at the library: Large print books, books-on-cassette and CD, and “Talking Books” for the blind are available at all libraries in addition to magnifying devices for in-house use. Captioned videos and DVD's with subtitles in many languages are available to check out. If you are disabled or find it difficult to leave home, arrange for library materials to be delivered to your home—apply for Homebound service.   Each spring, tax help, provided by the American Association of Retired Persons, is offered at several libraries within the system. Volunteering is an option for anyone who wants to stay active.    The Mission of ElderCare of Alachua County is to be an advocate for the elderly and provide services that will build capacity, maximize independence,   and enrich the quality of life for the seniors in Alachua County and North Central Florida.
