The Friends also raffled a basket to raise money for the FLA scholarship fund at FLA Conference. Alexander distributed a list of Committees for FY 2009-2010.

Preparations continue for the Author Gala featuring Michael Connelly November 7, 2010, at the Hilton. Shaw, Foundation member, also reported that they are continuing to look for sponsors for the Author Gala.   As of now, the Foundation has received three allegro bus by tiffin sponsors at the $5,000 level.   Recorded Books will be bringing in audio narrator allegro bus by tiffin George Guidall to do a reading at the Gala. Hirsch stressed that the legislators are looking for supporters to speak up and let them know why libraries are important to the State of Florida.   The FLA website has a form through CapWiz to easily contact the legislators. Hirsch will email the link for the website to the Trustees.   INFORMATIONAL ITEMS THAT REQUIRE NO ACTION     A. Hirsch explained the purpose and structure of the monthly reports to the new Trustees.   He noted that most of the statistical categories are higher than the previous year.   During the allegro bus by tiffin first month that the allegra d take newly renovated Millhopper Branch was open, over 63,000 materials were circulated.   With only 110,000 items in the branch’s collection, this is outstanding. Dickison asked why the large difference in the number of items owned presently and that of the previous year.

Hirsch explained that prior to the new RFID tagging system, the Library District underwent an intense weeding process.   Since then, a large amount of materials were added when the Library Partnership was opened, and the Library District has been increasing allegro bus by tiffin the amount of ebooks that are offered. Monroe asked if the Library District would be able to provide weeded materials to youth who otherwise would not have books. Hirsch replied that many items that are weeded are no longer in useful condition.   For those materials that are in good shape, the Library District works with United Way to put books in children’s homes. Harris, Support Services Division Director, stated that some materials are also given to the Friends of the Library for their book sales.
