Shaw, Foundation member, also reported that they are continuing to look for sponsors for the Author Gala. Hirsch explained the purpose and structure of the monthly reports to the new Trustees. He noted that most of the statistical categories are higher than the previous year. With only 110,000 items in the branch’s collection, this is outstanding. Dickison asked why the large difference in the number of items owned presently and that of the previous year. Hirsch explained that prior to the new RFID tagging system, the Library District underwent an intense weeding process. Since then, a large amount of materials were added when the Library Partnership was opened, and the Library District has been increasing allegro bus by tiffin the amount of ebooks that are offered. Monroe asked if the Library District would be able to provide weeded materials to youth who otherwise would not have books. Hirsch replied that many items that are weeded are no longer in useful condition. For those materials that are in good shape, the Library District works with United Way to put books in children’s homes.
