The 'Latchua Country News is published in March, June, September and December andACGS members are encouraged to submit queries for publication as well as Bible and cemetery records, biographies, letters, or anything pertaining to genealogy.

'Latchua Notes is mailed to members periodically on an as needed basis. Research Aids Alachua County Surname Index lists surnames of all ACGS members from the years 1988-1991.   List is currently being revised to include new members since 1991.   See our Publications List for other research aids. Resource Collection Throughout the years ACGS has donated materials to the Alachua County Library District. The 700+ volume genealogy collection housed at the Headquarters Library in downtown Gainesville includes: Alachua County Cemetery Survey (completed in 1966), Gainesville Sun Obituary file index, microfilms of Gainesville Sun (some as allegra x-15r early as 1880's, plus other bits of Gainesville newspapers (not the Sun) that are as early as1863); Florida Census (1830-1930), FL State Censuses (1885 & 1935), Bureau of Vital Statistics Florida Death, Marriage & Divorce index on microfiche,  local allegra x-15r City Directories, local and major city phone directories, bound transcribed allegra d active ingredients copies of Alachua County Census (1830-1880) and Inter-Library loan services through HeritageQuest. Education General membership meetings are designed to aid both the beginner and advanced genealogist.   Periodic special programs are planned to enhance the society's image, i.   Watch for announcements of our special programs in allegra x-15r the Activities section above. Donations Contributions to ACGS of monies and materials are tax deductible and receipts will be issued to donors, upon request, at face value.

Augustine in 1856, the FHS was briefly inactive during the Civil War and Reconstruction, but was reestablished in 1902 and incorporated in 1905. The FHS is dedicated to preserving Florida's past through the collection, archival maintenance, and publication of historical documents and other materials relating to the history of Florida and its peoples. The Society operates the FHS Press which publishes a diverse collection of interesting books, maintains the Library of Florida History with its extensive archival collections, and manages the Historic Rossetter House Museum. We publish scholarly research in the critically acclaimed Florida Historical Quarterly and produce Florida Frontiers: The Weekly Radio Magazine of the Florida Historical Society. We present a variety of educational public outreach programs including the Florida History Film Festival and the Discover Florida Lecture Series. The Florida Historical Society Annual Meeting, held in May, features fascinating panel discussions and other special events. Florida Confederate Pension Application Files History of the Confederate Pensions in Florida The first Confederate pensions in Florida were authorized in 1885 and granted to veterans the sum of $5. The next three decades saw a new Confederate pension bill introduced at nearly every session of the Legislature. Residency requirements were added and adjusted, militia members and widows were declared eligible, various financial qualifications were added and changed, and the amount and method of distribution were changed many times.
